Jake Mortimer is forced to venture outside the bunker for the Tomorrow Program when the annoying 23rd century debutante (and sometimes girlfriend) Milan duPont is kidnapped by mutant cultists. Jake travels in the 25th century atomic wilderness accompanied by his faithful (and perversely sexually inventive) android nurse, a security bot converted from a robot gardener, a small tribe of blue-skinned barbarians and their resourceful chieftain’s daughter – who is now somehow his new bride. But the surface world is as deadly as it is strange; ruined highways connect settlements of mutants, man-eating plants try to lure you to your death every second day, gigantic radiated bugs are on the hunt, and Jake’s DNA is the prize of every girl in the wasteland. Throw in some seductive tree-women and a lonely oracle and Jake has more girls on his hands than he knows what to do with. Pursuing the cultists who stole Milan will lead Jake into the heart of an ancient ruined city and an epic confrontation with the robotic highway patrol still operating after two centuries. There’s only one way to get out of town and that’s a high-speed chase on the open road. Good thing Jake is the last man alive with a driver’s licence, even if it did expire five hundred years ago.
